You need to take special care while preparing a recruiter resume cover letter; as people in our industry are expected to know how to prepare a job application better than other candidates. Since we spend most of our working time reading over employment applications; it only stands to reason that the hiring managers or other recruiters that are reading our resumes should expect perfection from us. The paragraphs below contain some helpful recruiter cover letter writing tips; to either help you land an entry level recruiting position, or for those of you who are experienced but want to make sure you have all your bases covered.

You could spend a lot of time torturing yourself about how your letter should look on the page, but you can make? things a lot easier on yourself by using a ready-made recruiter resume cover letter template to get started on the right foot. A template will show you what goes where and you can even copy/paste one into your favorite word processor; where you substitute your information for the info on the template (being careful not to change the spacing between the various sections.)

Your recruiter cover letter should reek of professionalism: professional business letter format, confident expressions of your skills, zero errors, quality paper (if you?re submitting them manually to potential employers) and an easy-to-read commonly used font, such as Times New Roman, or Arial.

Three paragraphs should be quite sufficient for most recruiting positions you apply for. If you have a great deal of experience working in the industry then an extra paragraph may be acceptable. However, most experienced and entry level recruiters will be able to sell themselves to their readers with less, rather than more. The easier and faster the covering letter can be read, the faster your reader can move on to reading your resume ? if you drone on about yourself, you risk losing their interest quickly.

You?re going to address your reader in a couple of different areas of your cover letter:

1) In the employer/agency contact details located at the top of the page under your own. Address the letter to the person who?s in charge of hiring for the position, then follow their name with the name of the company and other contact info (address, phone, email, etc.)

2) Address your reader in a formal manner with your cover letter greeting. Address them by either their full name, or their preferred title and name: E.g., Dear Gary Roberts, or Dear Mr. Roberts.

Show your reader that you know a thing, or two, about the company you?re applying to work for in the opening paragraph of your covering letter. Tell the reader why you want the job by using some ?subtle? flattery. Basically, you want to find something about the position that is both appealing to you, and which the company takes pride in and will take as a compliment when they read through your letter.

Example: ?I want to work as a recruiting agent for CG Staffing Company because of your reputation for providing your clients with the best temporary staff in the industry.?

- Tell them what you do best

Once you?ve told your reader why you want to work for them, you must tell them what you do best, and how it will benefit the firm or company once they hire you. This information will go in the second (and third, if applicable) paragraph of your recruiter resume cover letter, and should represent the best attribute(s) that you bring to the job with you. Focus on: career achievements, education, years of experience, specific industry knowledge that applies to the position, etc.

Never hand in your application without proofreading. As you no doubt already know: One mistake is all the reason any recruiter needs to toss your application for employment aside and move on to the next candidate.
